About this drill template
Drill template for the Fuzz Dog Orange Squeezer Compressor, sized for a Hammond 1590B enclosure (59.3 × 111.2 × 27 mm). The pre-positioned holes match the PCB's pot footprint exactly, with the footswitch centred below the 1-knob layout. Print at 1:1 scale, tape to the enclosure face, centre-punch, and drill. PCB and parts not included.
Fuzz Dog description: “Simple but nicely effective compressor kit. A lot of compressors have huge parts counts, but this one keeps it real and does what it says with the minimum of fuss.”
The Orange Squeezer, a compressor that gets by on a fraction of the parts most designs need. One control, and Fuzz Dog rate it easy to medium rather than a first build.
Build notes
The Hammond 1590B is the standard small DIY pedal enclosure: compact enough for a crowded board, large enough for most single-effect PCBs and a 9V battery.
Vendor specs: PCB 50 x 22mm, build difficulty easy-medium.
Drill measurements
Hole centres for the 1590B 1-Knob (Type 1) layout. X runs left to right from the centre of the face being drilled. On the enclosure face, Y is measured from the centre, positive towards the top. For holes on a side, Y is the distance down the wall, measured from the face edge. Export the PDF for a 1:1 printable version with a scale check.
| Hole | Face | X (mm) | Y (mm) | Diameter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pot | Enclosure face | 0 | 34 | 7 mm (0.28 in) |
| LED | Enclosure face | -14 | -37.6 | 5 mm (0.20 in) |
| Footswitch | Enclosure face | 0 | -37.6 | 12 mm (0.47 in) |
| DC Jack | Right side | -37.6 | 13.5 | 12 mm (0.47 in) |
| Jack | Right side | -17.6 | 13.5 | 9.5 mm (0.37 in) |
| Jack | Left side | -17.6 | 13.5 | 9.5 mm (0.37 in) |
Never drilled one before? How to drill a pedal enclosure walks you through the entire process, from punching the centres to the final step drill size.
Jig A covers 1590B 1-Knob (Type 1)
Drop it over the enclosure, punch a mark through the holes this build uses, then lift it off and drill. It wraps onto the sides too, so the jacks and DC socket are covered.
