The Hammond 1590A is the smallest of the common guitar pedal enclosures. There is room for a footswitch, an LED, the jacks and one or two small knobs, and very little else, so it suits boosts, simple fuzzes and utility pedals where pedalboard space matters more than elbow room.

Builds this tight usually put the jacks and the DC socket on the top face rather than the sides, and component clearance is the whole game: check your layout against the walls and the corner screw bosses before you drill.

How thick are the walls?

The 1590A's walls are 1.8 mm thick. Like every diecast enclosure it also carries a casting draft: each wall leans out by 0.7 mm from the drilled face to the open rim, so the enclosure measures 38.5 × 92.6 mm at the rim and 37.1 × 91.2 mm across the face you drill. Worth knowing when a part seats against the inside of a wall, and why a caliper reading depends on where you take it.

What fits inside?

The internal cavity measures 33.6 × 87.7 mm at the face, and the screw bosses in each corner reduce the usable flat area for a circuit board to about 25.6 × 79.7 mm. 1590A vs 1590B

The 1590B is 22.2 mm wider and 20 mm taller than the 1590A. If your build has more than two knobs, or a board bigger than a business card, start with the 1590B instead.

1590A vs 1590LB

The 1590LB is 12.2 mm wider and 41.9 mm shorter than the 1590A. The 1590LB trades the 1590A's height for width: square, and best suited to jacks-on-top mini builds.

Tayda's 1590A-style enclosure is its own casting, not a relabelled Hammond, and we measure both.
