About this drill template
Drill template for the Fuzz Dog FlatLine Compressor, sized for a Hammond 1590B enclosure (59.3 × 111.2 × 27 mm). The pre-positioned holes match the PCB's pot footprint exactly, with the footswitch centred below the 2-knob layout. Print at 1:1 scale, tape to the enclosure face, centre-punch, and drill. PCB and parts not included.
Fuzz Dog description: “John Hollis' relatively low parts count optical compressor. This fits in between the 'is it on' and 'super squished' camps.”
John Hollis' optical compressor, with a low parts count for what it does. Backed off, the sustain control gives roughly 3x gain between soft and hard playing; wound fully up it is nearer 20x, which is where it flattens out.
Build notes
Two-knob layouts leave plenty of space inside the enclosure: the PCB, jacks, and 9V supply all have room to breathe.
The Hammond 1590B is the standard small DIY pedal enclosure: compact enough for a crowded board, large enough for most single-effect PCBs and a 9V battery.
Vendor specs: PCB 50 x 30mm, build difficulty easy.
Drill measurements
Hole centres for the 1590B 2-Knob (Type 1) layout. X runs left to right from the centre of the face being drilled. On the enclosure face, Y is measured from the centre, positive towards the top. For holes on a side, Y is the distance down the wall, measured from the face edge. Export the PDF for a 1:1 printable version with a scale check.
